THE council has promised that Buckskin residents will have their bins collected.

Today is the normal day for refuse collections in the Buckskin area, but various road closures are still in place because of flooding, meaning the rubbish trucks cannot reach some homes.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council told The Gazette this morning that residents are being advised to put their bins out if it is safe and practical to do so.

Various roads including the bottom of Antrim Close, Sperrin Close and Bodmin Close are currently inaccessible to the refuse collectors.

But the borough council has said that bins will eventually be collected in these areas, possibly later today or tomorrow.

Residents are advised not to leave their bins out in roads which are flooded, and the council will arrange for them to be collected at a later date.

The council is waiting for updates on which areas have not had their rubbish collected.

Sophia Waite-King, senior media relations and communications officer for the borough council, said: “We definitely will collect these bins but we can’t say when at the moment.”

The council also confirmed that no further homes were evacuated last night, and the total remains at 19.
