A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after a man died following an incident in Kingsclere.

Patrick Evans, 54, of Swan Street, died on Thursday, February 6 at Basingstoke hospital.

A 20-year-old man from Bishops Green has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police said Mr Evans was involved in an incident with another man outside his home, near the pinch point in Swan Street, between 7.45pm and 8.10pm on Saturday, February 1.

Mr Evans collapsed and was taken by ambulance to Basingstoke hospital, where he later died. The cause of his death is not yet known.

Police were notified about the death and then began an investigation.

Detectives have now released a picture of cars passing the pinch point at the time of the incident, in an appeal for witnesses.

Detective Sergeant Paula James said: “We are conducting a range of enquiries to establish the circumstances leading up to Mr Evans’ death.

“As part of our investigation we would like to speak to anyone who may have seen an incident involving two men near to the single lane pinch point on Swan Street in Kingsclere between 7.45pm and 8.10pm on Saturday, February 1.

“In particular we are keen to speak to the occupants of the vehicles pictured as we believe they passed by at the time of the incident and may have witnessed something which could assist with our investigation.”
