A GROUP of children sang with the stars at a concert for thousands of primary school pupils.

The 30 youngsters from Overton Primary School, in Court Drove, travelled to the O2 in London last Friday, where they performed a variety of songs with children from schools all over the country.

It is the third year Overton Primary has taken part in the Young Voices event, and pupils have been rehearsing for the show since September last year.

Young Voices is the largest school choir organiser in the world and arranges more than 14 concerts a year in the UK and Ireland.

Each year, the family-run business brings more than 2,500 schools, 90,000 children and 6,000 teachers together to enjoy music and celebrate singing.

Parents travelled by coach to the O2 to watch the show. Mel Stewart, a class teacher at Overton Primary School, said: “They performed with professional artists Stacey Solomon, who was on The X Factor, and Wayne Ellington, who is a gospel singer. It’s a one-off experience for most of them. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime, amazing opportunity.”

Thirty children from Year 5 and 6 went to the event and sang songs from musicals, a pop medley, gospel and songs from the past.
