A CCTV image has been released after a gang attacked a young man outside a pub in Basingstoke.

The attack on the 19-year-old man took place outside the Great Western Hotel, in Vyne Road, South View, on New Year’s Day.

The man suffered bruising and cuts to his nose.

One of his attackers is described as a white man in his late teens to early 20s. He wore a beige coat, blue jeans and a black baseball cap on backwards.

Officers would like to speak to the people captured in the CCTV image.

PC Clare Hughes said: “This was a particularly nasty assault as the victim was unable to defend himself due to the amount of people that launched a sudden, unprovoked and sustained attack on him.”

Anyone with information can contact PC Hughes at Basingstoke police station on 101.

A 19-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with this incident and bailed until March 4.
