WHEELIE bins were thrown from a footbridge onto a busy Basingstoke road.
Police received three calls at around 7.40pm on Thursday, January 16 from members of the public reporting that the black bins had been dropped from a footbridge running between Stratfield Road, in Oakridge, and Abbey Road, Popley, onto the A339, putting the safety of drivers at risk.
Richard Green, a police community support officer from Basingstoke police station, said: “I would appeal for anyone with information about this incident to get in touch with the police.
“Have you heard anyone bragging about it? Did you see anyone with black wheelie bins in the area on that evening?
“Thankfully no one was injured as a result of this incident but the behaviour of those responsible was thoughtless and extremely dangerous to road users especially as it was dark at the time and weather conditions were poor reducing driver visibility.”
Anyone with information should contact PCSO Green at Basingstoke police station on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
