BASINGSTOKE MP Maria Miller will attend a fun-filled event aiming to raise money for a Basingstoke youth club this weekend.
Residents are invited to go the fun day between 11am and 3pm on January 25, at the Rooksdown Community Centre.
The event has been organised by Rooksdown Youth Club which is aiming to raise £3,000 to take 14 children between the ages of 11 and 18 on a week-long trip to Osmington Bay, Weymouth in October.
The trip will help the club teach members communication skills and they will be able to take part in a range of team-building activities.
A variety of drinks and candy floss will be on offer to visitors at the sport-themed event, who will get the chance to take part in a snowboarding game on an Xbox and win prizes from a raffle.
Prizes for the raffle which have been supplied by companies in Basingstoke include a voucher from Skiplex, who are based at the Leisure Park, and syrups and biscuits from Costa.
Richard Lee, lead youth worker at Rooksdown Youth Club told The Gazette: “It is a very exciting event for the youth project. It is the first time we have done large scale public fundraising.”
