BOROUGH residents are being invited to have their say on a borough council blueprint for being green.
The draft ‘Climate Change Strategy’ has been updated by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and the authority wants to know what borough residents and businesses think of the plans.
Key pledges have been made by the borough council, including a commitment to reducing its carbon emissions year on year and encouraging and supporting residents, community groups and businesses to reduce their carbon emissions across the borough.
The borough council has also vowed to work with residents, businesses and partners to prepare and plan for the impacts of climate change and to manage the associated risks.
For each plan, the draft strategy sets out what other policies will help deliver them, what actions can be taken, what funding opportunities are available to assist the plans, and how the borough council will measure success.
Councillor Robert Donnell, cabinet member for the environment and climate change, said: “Addressing climate change is a key priority for the council.
“We have committed to reducing carbon emissions, working with local partners and with all sectors of the community to raise awareness and encourage change to meet national targets.”
He added: “It is important that as a borough council we lead on this matter locally, and the updated Climate Change Strategy will enable us to do that, setting out clear objectives and methods to achieve our targets.”
