A DRUG pusher who crashed his moped while high on drugs has been given a suspended jail sentence.

Officers became suspicious when Christopher Warren, 25, was “unsteady on his feet” after he crashed on the northbound A339 near Ramsdell on August 4 last year.

Tom Wright, prosecuting, said: “Officers suspected him of drug use and decided to search him. They found ketamine and cocaine on his person, and a little bag of cannabis.

“That led to a search of his property where more substantial quantities of drugs were found in his bedroom.”

Warren, of Cambrian Way, Buckskin, Basingstoke, had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, and one count of possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply.

Officers also found £110 in cash when they searched Warren’s home, Mr Wright said. No evidence was offered by the prosecution for the possession of ketamine at Warren’s sentencing hearing at Winchester Crown Court.

Warren dealt drugs to friends and also took them, which was having an effect on his mental health, the court heard.

Judge Andrew Barnett said that people would expect dealers like Warren to be sent to prison, but he told the defendant he would give him a chance.

He said: “People who deal, particularly in Class A drugs, go to prison because these drugs can have life-changing, life-threatening or sometimes life-destroying consequences, as you well know. But I’m going to give you a chance to see if you can get off these drugs.”

He sentenced Warren to two years in jail, suspended for 18 months, with supervision and drugs rehabilitation requirements.
