PAMBER Heath Post Office is set to increase its opening hours by double and undergo a dramatic refurbishment.

The Post Office, in Silchester Road, will offer services from a till at the retail counter between 5am and 7pm from Monday to Saturday and from 5am until 1pm on Sunday.

The extended opening hours will mean the Post Office will open for a total of 92 hours every week – double the 46 hours it is currently open.

At the moment, the Post Office opens from 9am until 5.30pm Monday to Friday, and from 9am until 12.30pm on Saturdays. It is closed on Sunday.

The Post Office will also be transformed into a modern, open-plan branch during a week of work to be carried out in February.

Will Russell, Post Office regional network manager for England-South, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Pamber Heath and we are confident that this new modern branch will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“The modernisation is part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches and this investment, the largest in the history of the Post Office, makes a commitment to the ‘No more branch closure’ programme.”

The Post Office will close for refurbishment at 12.30pm on Saturday, February 8 and the new-look Post Office will open at 1pm on Monday, February 17.

The shop will remain open during this period.

Nearby branches which can be used during the closure are North Tadley Post Office, in Bishopswood Road, and Mulfords Hill Post Office, both in Tadley, or Baughurst Post Office, in Heath End Road.
