FAMILIES and individuals in Hampshire are being encouraged to sign up to a healthy eating campaign.

Hampshire County Council is urging people to take part in Smart Swap, which asks them to make one small swap to their everyday food and drink to help them eat more healthily.

Swaps could be sugary drinks for diet or sugar-free versions, water or skimmed milk; swapping full fat to reduced fat cheese; butter to lower fat butter or spreads; sugary cereal for plain porridge; or semi-skimmed milk to skimmed.

Councillor Liz Fairhurst, the council’s executive member for adult social care and public health, said: “January always makes us want to eat healthily and this campaign makes it easy to start the year off with some healthier changes to your diet.”

Participants will receive a free smart swapper pack with swap and meal ideas, money-off vouchers, fridge magnets and supportive emails and texts.
