A NEW nursery could open in Basingstoke town centre.

Kids Academy Day Nursery Group wants to use Adelphi House, in Church Square, to provide childcare for up to 75 children, aged from 30 days to five years.

A planning application has been submitted to the borough council by Allen Planning Limited, on behalf of the group, asking to change the use of the two-storey building from Class D1 to a children’s day nursery.

The building is currently used as mixed office and meeting space for employment support and rehabilitating mental health patients for the NHS. However, this is set to stop in the near future.

The application said: “Its reuse for educational purposes would return this potentially vacant and sustainable site back into viable use, creating employment together with the provisions of improving the education of younger residents in the vicinity.”

The nursery would employ 20 staff if operating at full capacity, and be open from 7am until 7pm on weekdays.

The site has off-street parking which can accommodate up to 16 vehicles. Kids Academy Day Nursery Group delivers childcare in the UK and Middle East.
