THIS is the man police would like to speak to after a rogue trader targeted a woman in Whitchurch.

The man called at the home of a 59-year-old woman in Hill Road, at 3pm on Thursday, December 12.

He asked if she needed any rubbish clearing and said it would cost £500. She refused and agreed to pay £50.

She handed £30 to the man and he told her to go inside while he removed the items. But instead he took away one item and left the rest of the rubbish.

He is described as white, aged 38 to 40-years-old, about 6ft 3ins and had dark hair with a parting.

He wore a black, thigh-length rainproof jacket with red and orange horizontal stripes and logo. He also had a yellow ID card.

PC Stuart Bond said: “This appears to have been a rogue trader-type incident where a vulnerable disabled woman was targeted.

“If someone calls at your home and offers you a service, remember you are entitled to a seven day cooling-off period before any works begin.

“Do not hand over money until works are completed to your satisfaction. Where possible get several quotes to ensure that the price you are paying is fair.”

Anyone with information can contact PC Bond at Basingstoke police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
