PLANS have been put forward to convert a family home into a house for multiple occupants.

Colin Davison, from Craniets, based in Winton House, Basingstoke, has submitted plans to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, asking to convert the Grade II listed property in Hawkes Hill, Winchester Road.

The proposal outlines “minimal internal modifications” to transform the house from three bedrooms into seven.

The work would also include erecting a new boundary wall, installing metal railings and adding two small low-level windows.

The two-storey property has four allocated parking spaces off street, and it is proposed a further space would be added.

Negotiation is also proposed with adjacent businesses, to share spaces outside of business hours for residents’ to use.

The application states: “As an individual property, 21 Winchester Road does not represent a particularly good family home.” This is because of its closeness to businesses, lack of garden, and because of the regular traffic going past the house.
