FESTIVE pupils filled a Basingstoke shopping centre with Christmas cheer as they raised money for a local hospice.
The Glee Choir from Kempshott Junior School, in Old Down Close, helped to raise £1,033 for St Michael’s Hospice, in Aldermaston Road, Basingstoke, at the Christmas charity day in The Malls.
Fundraising activities on the day included a Christmas raffle ticket sale, a teddy tombola and a cash collection at The Malls.
Winners of the raffle will be chosen on December 20 by the hospice with prizes including a dinner for two at the Elvetham Hotel, in Hartley Wintney, a Nintendo DS donated by Game, in Festival Place, and afternoon tea for two at Highfield Park Hotel, in Hook.
Helena Maskell, community fundraising manager at St Michael’s Hospice, said: “It was a pleasure to work with the school. The children were fantastic and there were lots of parents and grandparents who came along to support the event.
“The money raised from all of the events that took place on the day, and the generosity of the people in Basingstoke really makes a huge difference at the hospice.”
