FREE swimming lessons are being offered to over 55-year-olds in Basingstoke.
The classes are aimed at beginners who want to improve their water confidence and swimming skills, but are also open to those wanting to learn new strokes or improve their technique.
The Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council initiative has run successfully throughout 2013, with each course fully subscribed.
The next 10-week course of 30-minute lessons, on Thursday afternoons, will begin on January 9, 2014, with a limited number of spaces available.
Lessons are for Basingstoke and Deane residents only, and will be held at Basingstoke Sports Centre, in Festival Place, from 2.45pm until 3.15pm.
Participants will receive a free 30-day pool pass upon completion of the course.
Councillor Cathy Osselton, the council’s cabinet member for partnerships, said: “It’s never too late to learn to swim, as our previous courses have proved. If it’s something you’ve always meant to do but never quite got round to, why not make a resolution for 2014 and sign up?”
