A BASINGSTOKE church was targeted by vandals who slashed seats, damaged a painting, cut the rope handrail on the bell tower and gouged the letter ‘N’ into the main door.
Police have now released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident which happened at St Michael’s Church, in Church Square, some time between 5pm on November 9 and 5pm on November 10.
PC Aidan Blackwell said: “This damage is likely to cost several thousands of pounds to repair and is a seemingly random attack on the church.
“Do you recognise the man in the CCTV image? Do you know anything which may assist my investigation?”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Blackwell at Basingstoke police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
