A BASINGSTOKE doctor has been told he could go to prison after he admitted filming up a woman’s skirt in a Halfords store.

Dr Anush Babu appeared at Winchester Crown Court today, where he was expected to stand trial for 11 counts of voyeurism and one count of committing an act outraging public decency.

The incidents were alleged to have taken place at various places including the Aquadrome, in Worting Road, Basingstoke. Babu had previously denied all the charges against him.

But the Crown Prosecution Service said it had no evidence to offer on the 11 voyeurism counts after Babu changed his not guilty plea to one of guilty on the one count of committing an act outraging public decency which was lewd, obscene and of a disgusting nature.

The 38-year-old, of Mayflower Close, Chineham, was arrested in December 2011 and was subsequently charged.

Fern Russell, defending Babu, said a psychiatrist had reported that when her client carried out the filming on his mobile phone, at an unspecified Halfords store, he had done so as an act of “compulsion” and not for “sexual gratification.”

Addressing Babu, Judge Nigel Lickley QC said: “All sentencing options are available and that includes custody.”

Babu was released on unconditional bail and will appear at court for sentencing on the charge he has admitted on December 12.
