TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a teenager was stabbed near a Basingstoke school.

The 18-year-old victim suffered serious facial injuries after the assault in Pinkerton Road, South Ham, near Aldworth School, between midnight and 12.30am this morning.

Police said he is in a stable condition in hospital.

A 23-year-old man from Basingstoke and a 28-year-old man from London have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Detective Inspector Justin Torgout said: "This was a nasty assault which has left a teenager with serious injuries.

"We are in the early stages of our investigations but would like to hear from anyone who was in the area of Pinkerton Road late last night or early this morning and saw or heard anything to get in touch. If you can help, please call us."
