Wool against Weapons hopes to knit a scarf to link AWE Aldermaston and AWE Burghfield
ACTIVISTS armed with knitting needles are currently working on a seven-mile-long pink scarf which they hope to unveil next year, stretched between the AWE sites in Aldermaston and Burghfield.
The project, dreamed up by protest groups Action AWE and Wool against Weapons, is an attempt to raise awareness about nuclear weapons.
Hundreds of knitters from across the country will be involved in creating the scarf to be unveiled on August 16 next year.
