Police set to question woman arrested following Winklebury crash that injured young mum
A WOMAN arrested following a collision in Basingstoke which injured a 26-year-old mum and her five-year-old daughter remains in custody today.
Police will interview the 27-year-old this afternoon.
Officers were called at 3.12pm September 5 to reports a white Honda Civic car had collided with vehicles on Willoughby Way outside Winklebury Infant School.
Eyewitnesses said the young mum was hit by a car during the accident.
She remains today at Southampton General Hospital and police say her condition is serious but not life threatening.
Her daughter was not as seriously injured and was treated at Basingstoke Hospital.
Her young son, who she flung to safety, was uninjured.
The driver of the Honda was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and of being unfit through drink or drugs. A six-year-old boy passenger in the car was uninjured.
Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the Honda driving prior to it.
