A POPULAR angler was remembered at an Odiham lake on what would have been his 60th birthday.
Friends and family of Terry Dobbie gathered at Bowsaw Lake, near Roke Farm, for the annual memorial charity fishing match.
Mr Dobbie, from Popley, Basingstoke, died at the age of 53 in 2007 after losing a battle with stomach cancer.
This year’s event saw 28 people take part, fishing for carp, perch, tench and roach.
Laura Waissen, Terry’s daughter, organised the event with her husband Scott. The 32-year-old said: “It went well and it’s been another successful year.
“It’s not so much about the money – it’s about getting together to remember my dad. If he were alive today, he would have been up here any way.”
Among those taking part was Bob Hardy, of Pack Lane, Kempshott, who was Terry’s brother-in-law. The 61-year-old has attended every Terry’s Cup fishing tournament.
He said: “It can be emotional because we are fishing in memory of Terry. It is a fun day and I hope everybody had a good time.”
The event sponsors were Astral PMS, Tadley Angling, and NBM Engraving.
