EXCELLENT weather made for a superb Oakley Village Show with plenty of entries and a lot of young faces.
Show committee member Ann Davis, said the show, in the grounds of Oakley Junior School, had attracted plenty of families.
Mrs Davis said: “It was brilliant. It was the best show we have had in terms of the number of people through the gate.
“The number of entries was also very high. It was a really good community event.”
More children were taking part after the committee had pushed to include more for them, such as an entertainer and enhanced children’s classes, she added.
While the dog agility section remained a firm spectator favourite, competitions for photography, baking, art-and-craft and fruit-and-veg all attracted many entries.
Mrs Davis added: “I think there is a realisation that the standard of entries does not have to be so high that people feel they cannot have a go. We want everyone to see it as a family event.”
Cash raised from the show will fund next year’s event and a donation to a local good cause – Oakley Community First Responders.
