RESIDENTS at a Basingstoke old people’s home were treated to a special lunch with entertainment from a Basingstoke singer.
2010 Festival Factor winner Anne Casteel performed for residents at Abbeyfield, in Cliddesden Road, Fairfields.
Her performance, which included hits from The Carpenters and her own original songs, was part of Abbeyfield’s Big Lunch event.
The home’s nine residents were treated to the meal which included strawberries and cream and tea.
Abbeyfield manager Pam Fideli said: “It was lovely.”
She added: “The residents idolise Anne, and they really enjoyed the day.”
The Big Lunch, first launched in 2009 is an annual, national event, which was the idea of the Eden Project, in Cornwall.
It aims to bring communities closer by encouraging them to sit down and enjoy a meal together once a year.
Millions of neighbours took part in this year’s event, gathering in streets, gardens and community spaces.
