A PILOT scheme that helps disabled people to find the right information and advice has been backed by Basingstoke MP Maria Miller.

The Basingstoke and District Forum is testing a new ‘signpost’ service at Basingstoke Discovery Centre, in Festival Place.

Every first Tuesday of each month, from 10am to 1.30pm, advisers will be on hand to help disabled people, their family and carers find the right information.

This can be about housing, benefits or transport.

Culture Secretary Mrs Miller, a former minister for disabled people, said: “It can sometimes be difficult for disabled people and their families and carers to find the right place to go for advice and information.

“This service will help to ensure that it is easier for them to access the information they need.”
