PATIENTS and their relatives who want exceptional staff from Basingstoke hospital to be recognised and rewarded are being invited to nominate them for a special awards event.

The Director of Nursing Awards acknowledge the outstanding dedication that nursing, midwifery and therapy staff provide to patients.

Nominations are welcome from patients and other members of the public, and will be reviewed by a panel of public representatives.

The awards scheme is for staff across all sites run by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – Basingstoke hospital, Andover hospital and Winchester hospital, and for HHFT staff working at Alton and Bordon community hospitals.

Chief nurse Donna Green said: “We are delighted to launch the eighth annual Director of Nursing Awards.

“We would love to hear from patients or visitors who feel that individuals or teams have gone beyond the call of duty to give exceptional care.

“We are encouraging patients and the public to nominate nursing and therapy staff across all of our hospital sites.”

There are two categories for nominations. In addition, there are three special awards – The Rotary Club of Basingstoke Deane sponsor a rose bowl awarded to the overall winner of their choice, the Wallace Award, and, for the first time this year, the Chief Medical Officer’s Award, sponsored by CMO Dr Andrew Bishop.

This year, the awards ceremony will be held on Monday, June 3, at The Elvetham Hotel, in Hartley Wintney.

Nominations can be made until the end of May at hampshirehospitals. nhs.uk or by completing a nomination form, available by calling Karen O’Hanlon on 01256 313435 or emailing dona@hhft.nhs.uk.
