A POLICE motorcyclist was seriously injured after a collision with a car in Hampshire yesterday afternoon.
The collision between the marked Hampshire Constabulary motorbike and a yellow Audi S3 car took place on the A31 between Four Marks and Chawton at 1.55pm.
The officer, aged in his 40s, was responding to another crash on the same road when the collision took place. He was seriously injured and was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital, where his condition was described yesterday evening as critical but stable.
The Audi driver, a 40-year-old man from Four Marks, was not injured. He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and taken to Basingstoke police station for questioning.
He was bailed until May 5 pending further enquiries.
Anyone who witnesses the crash or either vehicle immediately beforehand can contact Sergeant Darren Ord of the roads policing unit at Eastleigh by calling 101, quoting Operation Bricklin.
