AN investigation has been launched following a bomb scare at a maximum security jail today (Thursday, January 10).
Staff at Full Sutton prison near York called in a specialist team because they were concerned that a package found at the prison was dangerous.
The prison, which houses some of the country’s most dangerous criminals, can house more than 600 people and was opened in 1987.
A Ministry of Justice spokesman said later: “A suspect package intercepted by staff at HMP Full Sutton has been deemed safe by specialist police.
“This incident will now be investigated by the prison.”
No more details have been released about the incident.
