Cranbourne and Sherfield-on-Loddon pupils act in bus project
STAGECOACH Basingstoke got more students than they bargained for when dozens of parents turned up with their children to take part in the theatre school’s latest fundraising event Parents Do Stagecoach.
The event, held at both Cranbourne Business and Enterprise College, in Basingstoke, and at Sherfield School, raised over £1,000 for InterAct – Stagecoach’s Charitable Trust.
Parents were invited to take part in the event and were told they would be treated just like the children – taking part in all three disciplines of singing, dance and drama.
The stage-struck parents were asked to get friends, family and work colleagues to sponsor them to raise money for the charity.
InterAct aims to bring together groups of young people, providing disadvantaged youth with real opportunities to develop valuable skills for life by engaging in the arts.
Allen Watts, principal of Stagecoach Basingstoke, said: “The Parents Do Stagecoach day was a huge success. We raised much-needed funds for InterAct and everyone who took part had a fantastic time.
“Parents also had an opportunity to get to know the staff, who teach their children, better, and by taking part in the event, they gained a greater understanding of what Stagecoach and InterAct is about.”
