LOVED ones will be remembered at a special Christmas service at St Michael’s Hospice, in Basingstoke.

The hospice, in Aldermaston Road, is inviting people to join its annual Light Up A Life ceremony on Sunday, December 9 to remember those they cannot be with this Christmas. This year’s event, supported by De La Rue, will start at 6pm in the hospice grounds, when the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, Councillor Martin Biermann, will light the Candle of Light and share a moment’s silence.

Basingstoke Silver Band will feature in the uplifting service, along with Basingstoke Choral Society. Pat Darty, events manager at St Michael’s, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for people who have lost someone, or have friends and family that they can’t be with this Christmas time, to sponsor a light in their honour.

“This is always a well-supported event and the money generously donated goes towards the £3.3million which must be raised each year to run the hospice and provide our vital services to the north Hampshire community.”
