Harry Potter actress and EastEnders actor shoot film in Bramley

FROM the dormitories of Hogwarts to a bedroom in Bramley – it was an easy transition for an actress making a short film.
Lauren Shotton, who played Pansy Parkinson in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, was shooting some scenes in Yew Tree Close in Bramley over the weekend.
Geoff Harmer, who is from Black Dam, in Basingstoke, was making ‘Karen’s Room’, starring Ms Shotton and Andrew Coppin, who has appeared in Holby City and EastEnders. But instead of wizardry and the fight against dark forces, this film is a short romantic comedy.
Mr Harmer explained: “It’s about a woman who wakes up after a night drinking and sees a man in a suit sitting in a chair preventing her from leaving her room.”
He said the film, which will be between five and 10 minutes long, was based around their conversation and the location in Bramley came about through a friend.
Lauren, 22, said: “It’s too much fun to feel like work. I’m really excited to be working on this project.”
She and Andrew were at the Yew Tree Close location for much of Saturday and Sunday to film their scenes.
Writer Neil Thomas, who has a bit-part in the film, was also there to see his vision realised.
He said: “I wrote the script in about a day two years ago and Geoff said he was keen to do something with it.
“Then nothing happened for ages. I’m over the moon with how it’s all looking now and I can’t wait to see it when it’s finished.”
The film will be first screened at a Red Carpet Screenings event in Basingstoke in February.
