A BASINGSTOKE charity has been given a big boost after being announced as Charity of the Year by a Chineham business.
RadCan, which is fundraising for a new radiotherapy centre in the north Hampshire area, has been singled out by company Lok’nStore.
The self-storage company, in Crockford Lane, Chineham, will be supporting the charity until June 2013 through various fundraising activities involving their staff.
Amy Gaye, centre manager at Lok’nStore Basingstoke said: “We are delighted to be forming this partnership.
“With many of our customers residing in the local area, it is important for us to support the community around our centre.
“To kick-start our relationship with RadCan, we will make a £25 donation every time the charity directs a customer to Lok’nStore and they make a reservation.
“We also have some exciting fundraising activities planned where we will be profiling the charity to our customers and the general public.”
Margaret Porter, treasurer at RadCan, said: “RadCan is raising funds to contribute to the provision of a radiotherapy centre in north Hampshire.
“Currently, there is no local facility in Basingstoke and cancer patients have to travel to either Guildford or Southampton at a time when their health is already at a low ebb.”
