Man assaulted over fence plea
A MAN was assaulted by two youths in the Buckskin area of town after he asked them to stop damaging a fence.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen the assault, which took place in Tweedsmuir Close, Buckskin, Basingstoke, sometime between 1.30am and 2am, on Sunday, July 6.
The victim required hospital treatment for a dislocated shoulder and facial injuries.
The youths, who are aged between 19 and 20, also took the man's mobile phone and £175.
Police are keen to hear from a witness who tried to stop the fight, but was pushed away by the attackers.
The first youth is described as white, 6ft 2in tall, with a shaved head. He was wearing a grey vest over an orange T-shirt.
The second youth is described as white, 5ft 10in tall, and wearing a black hooded top.
Detective Constable Paul Barry, of Basingstoke CID, said: "This was a particularly nasty and unprovoked attack on an innocent man as he walked home.
"The area would have been quite busy in the early hours of Sunday morning and we would urge anyone with information about the incident to contact police as soon as possible."
A 19-year-old man from Basingstoke has been arrested and bailed in connection with this incident.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact Det Con Barry, at Basingstoke police station, on 0845 045 4545 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
