TWO photographs taken close to the same point; at the eastern entrance to the subterranean section of Churchill Way.
The first shows the cul-de-sac that was created when Wote Street was divided by the New Market Square. Jackson’s Garage stood on the corner.
Further along you found the ABC Cinema and the Goat & Barge pub (later re-Christened the Nightjar).
The enormous supporting pillar had appeared by the time the second photo was taken; when Churchill Plaza was nearing completion.
Jackson’s had survived and was still operating a petrol station.
