THIS fascinating photo of Wote Street was probably taken in the mid-seventies.
The visible shops, from right, are Donna Marie (fashion Boutique), Woolcraft, Buckland’s newsagent, Jukes the Chemist (number 25), Granada (TV rentals), Barnaby (men’s fashion), Grosvenor (carpets), Hussey’s Bakery and the Job Centre.
None of the names of the shops on the west side are visible but four levels of the new car park can be seen beyond.
The image captures the collision of two eras.
