- Daniel WHITE
- Dan White is the Community Safety Patrol Officer (CSPO) for Rooksdown. Dan started his career at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council over six years ago where he has worked as a Logistics Support Officer and a Community Warden before joining the CSPO team in January 2010. Dan has been working in Rooksdown where he patrols on foot, bicycle and vehicle. During this time he has built many links with partner agencies, schools, businesses and local residents to identify and tackle local issues, reduce crime, deter anti-social behaviour, deal with ‘environmental’ crimes, to help make residents feel safer and happier about their neighbourhood. Dan can use enforcement powers to tackle offences such as graffiti, littering or dog fouling or confiscate alcohol from under-age drinkers but also enjoys educating members of the public as a way of dealing with incidents. In addition to this Dan enjoys organising and running events that deter anti-social-behaviour.
About this neighbourhood
Popley is a large residential area to the North of Basingstoke which was originally built in the 1970s and has recently benefited from much new residential development. This mainly residential area, is well served by public transport and is just to the north of the town centre. Popley is a mixture of social and privately owned housing. There are three primary schools, a newly built state of the art secondary school and Popley Fields Community Centre. There are a number of shopping parades typically populated with convenience stores but otherwise no large scale retail premises. There is a local pub, the Barbican. Anti social behaviour has been a feature on some of the shopping parades in particular Longfellow parade. There is also a doctors surgery. A hotel (the Apollo) is situated along Popley way. The Local Community group known as the PSNP or 'Popley Safer Neighbourhood Panel' have a website... http://psnp.zapd.net/ take a look for regular updates and photo's of interest.
