About this neighbourhood

map

This neighbourhood is an urban housing estate comprising, in the main, owner occupied housing, with some new, social housing in the Beggarwood area. Both estates are easily accessible by the M3 motorway.

Hatch Warren as an estate was built in the late 1980’s and also has a primary school, St Marks and a pub, the Portsmouth Arms. There is also a retail estate including Supermarket amongst other outlets. There is also a community centre that organises regular events including an annual beer festival and a fireworks display.

There is a relatively low crime rate in comparison to other estates in Basingstoke, suffering from occasional series of burglaries and car crime from travelling criminals. The most reported crimes are ASB and youth nuisance.

Beggarwood is a newer estate, established in the last 10 years, there is also a local shop, estate agents, chemist, dentist and children's nursery.

Mike and Aaron engage with local residents as often as possible whilst on patrol and at beat surgeries.

The force responsible for policing and crime prevention in this area is Hampshire Constabulary.
