More green space, not more homes

Sir.–With regards to the possible building of more homes in the South View area on land that was previously allotments, I feel that we should be using this land for allotments.
With a waiting list of hundreds within the Basingstoke area, we should be getting the site cleared and back into use now and not put up yet more houses.
The locals need a park and green space. Yet if the council build, there will be even less green space, more cars, more people and no outside space for these people to enjoy.
Maybe a shared community garden/allotment could be incorporated into the reopening of the allotments?
