Sir.-Congratulations should go to Chris Evans, Jody Scheckter and everyone else involved in the organisation of CarFest for raising more than £750,000 for Children in Need this bank holiday weekend.
In addition to raising such a substantial sum the event was enjoyed by thousands of families both local and from further afield.
The village of Overton was eerily quiet on Saturday (apart from supercars), not I suspect, because shoppers had gone to CarFest but because they were put off by those who predicted gridlock and mayhem. I know that some residents were inconvenienced by noise and traffic but I'm sure even they will now think that it was all worthwhile.
