Sir.-I refer to articles about the regeneration and funding to the Top of The Town area, which is great news.
I would like to praise the small businesses that have remained throughout the struggles, economic climate and lack of passing trade since Festival Place arrived.
Some of these businesses are the ones that in the past brought people to Basingstoke and although unfortunately some have gone, the ones that remain serve their purpose and deserve our support.
I pay particular attention to the shops that we have all visited at one stage or another for example School Kit, Paper Smiths and hair salons.
I must show my personal appreciation to Basingstoke Service Centre who have always provided a great personal service when my essential appliances have failed and saved us fortunes in this throw-away society.
Let’s keep the Top of The Town alive.
