Protecting our heritage
8:30am Saturday 14th July 2012 in Letters
Sir.–As the chairman of the Churches Conservation Trust (CCT), I know first-hand the importance of protecting our historic religious buildings from falling into disrepair.
This summer, I’m inviting young people to use their energy and time to protect and restore the UK’s iconic faith buildings for future generations.
Young people across the UK are participating in CSV Cathedral Camps residential programme, of which CCT is proud to be a partner. The camps will see 16 to 25 year olds volunteering for a week lime-washing church walls, conservation-cleaning statues, surveying tombstones and archiving precious paintings.
Visit cathedralcamps. org.uk or ring 0121 643 8080 to find out how to get involved.
