Council should have put out some flags

Sir.–The Gazette had a headline on the front page “Let’s Get The Bunting Out” for the Diamond Jubilee. This obviously was either missed or completely ignored by our council.

From what I saw, the town was bereft of a single flag or piece of bunting put up by Basingstoke council, our so called representatives.

Even Festival Place did put some up in two places.

Basingstoke council should be ashamed of their lack of respect for both Queen and country, and the people of Basingstoke. Here we are, one of the wealthiest towns around, and the council cannot even fly some bunting or flags.

Come Christmas, I suppose we will get those skanky blue Christmas lights erected, but it was no to flags for a rare event of national importance and celebration.
