Sir.–On July 3 and 4, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance had their helicopter pod on display in The Malls, Basingstoke.

Adults and children alike were keen to sit inside this former air ambulance helicopter, and showed their appreciation of HIOWAA’s work by donating the magnificent amount of £1,223.74. This is an wonderful sum and we are extremely grateful to everyone for this incredible support.

As well as wishing to thank everyone for their generosity, we would also like to thank The Malls management for inviting us to have the pod on display and also to our fantastic volunteers who kindly gave up their weekend to help with the collection.

Every day the air ambulance crew provide an efficient and prompt response to road traffic collisions, sporting accidents, collapses, and many other incidents throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The helicopter is called out on average three to five times per day, and many of these missions are lifesaving. It is our aim to provide an efficient air ambulance service to the people of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, taking patients to the most appropriate hospital for their needs.

With support, such as that given in Basingstoke, we will continue to extend the service, and keep the air ambulance flying and saving lives.
