Bus firm should listen to views of its customers

Sir.–I was amazed to read your article on South Ham buses (Thursday, February 4) where Andrew Dyer, of Stagecoach, said “I think we have been quite genuinely taken aback by the number of comments…..”

I wasn’t. What did he expect when Stagecoach did not consult bus passengers and forced bus changes on South Ham residents? If you don’t consult your customers, then how do you know what they want?

Come on Stagecoach. You acted in self-interest, maximising profits at the expense of your customers.

Why don’t you do what you claim on your own website?

“Our services play an important role in helping people in rural and urban areas access work, education, health, shopping and leisure, with two million passengers travelling on our bus services every day...putting customers first is our priority.”

I look forward to Stagecoach putting their customers first in Basingstoke. Perhaps then we can see bus services restored to meet their customers’ needs in South Ham.
