Bring some Irish luck to club

Sir.–I write to you with reference to The Basingstoke Irish Society and the forthcoming Irish Festival that is being held at the club from Friday until Sunday.

The society has had mixed fortunes of late, like many other clubs and pubs operating under the cloud of economic doom.

Although we feel we have turned a corner recently, we are still seeking new members and others to come and enjoy the entire myriad of events and activities we have to offer.

The club itself can be quite simply used as a local, for the individual or the family, in what is a palatial and convivial environment.

There are a number of rooms to hire at very competitive rates, for private parties and functions as well as public events and groups who wish to have regular gettogethers (groups looking for rehearsal space take note!).

On top of this, we have regular quizzes, darts, pool, kick-boxing, open mic nights, live English and Irish sports on TV, Irish dancing, card games and live music almost every Saturday.

The Irish Festival is always a popular event and is the perfect time to remind and inform your readers to bring the family along and check it out.

You also don’t have to hail from the Emerald Isle to enjoy the club either, or to take advantage of its amenities. We are a truly egalitarian organisation and situated next door to the town centre. We look forward to seeing you there.

–Royston O’Keane, Vivaldi Close, Brighton Hill, Basingstoke.
