Could your pooch be BAOS' Bullseye?

BASINGSTOKE Amateur Operatic Society are searching for a perfect pooch to play a key role in their forthcoming show.

The society need a hard-looking, well-trained dog to perform the part of Bill Sikes’s companion Bullseye in their new production of Oliver! BAOS’ version of the famous musical will run from March 19 to 24 in The Haymarket as part of the society’s 90th anniversary celebrations.

The successful dog will need to be available for all performances and some rehearsals prior to the show. Bullseye must be able to take instruction. The dog also needs to be happy on a lead, be good with children and must be happy to wear a muzzle.

The owner will need to be available to accompany the dog, and must ensure that the dog has had all of its vaccinations up to date, plus their own insurance for the show. It is an unpaid role.

Potential Bullseyes are invited to register by email for an audition on Sunday, January 29 at 11am, in The Bandstand at War Memorial Park. Director Gail Lowe and Ian ‘Spud’ Smith, who will play Bill Sikes, will select the successful dog.

Prior to auditioning, dogs (and their owners) should forward a photo, the dog’s name, its breed, the name of owner and their contact number to Carlie Cohen at carlie@ baos.org. Copies of the insurance documents and fully up-to-date vaccinations will be required.
