Lost toys get help finding home

BASINGSTOKE’S own touring theatre company Proteus is on a campaign to re-home lost toys as part of its new interactive children’s show, The Lost Toy.

The fun, interactive show is aimed at children between three and seven years old to help Leopold the Leopard and his friends find their way back home – helping them to learn the importance of home, friendship and family.

Following on from the success of last year’s show about transport and the environment, Are We Nearly There Yet?, Proteus wants the audience to help create the show by bringing along their much-loved toys to star in the show, and make every performance unique.

The company is also going to try and find homes for lost toys by setting up a national campaign to home them through social networking sites.

If you have found a lost toy and would like it re-homed, bring it along to a performance of The Lost Toy and Proteus will donate it to Naomi House Children’s Hospice, either for sale in one of their charity shops or for use in the hospice.

The cast includes Clive Holland – a familiar face in Proteus’ winter productions who also starred in Are We Nearly There Yet? – and Samantha Jenkinson, who trained at Bretton Hall, in Leeds and is originally from Tadley.

The show is directed by Mary Swan who has been artistic director at Proteus since 2004. The company is one of southern England’s leading professional touring companies with a long history of making participatory theatre.

The Lost Toy is at touring schools, arts centres, theatres and village halls between May 18 and June 31.

Ticket information is available at proteustheatre.com and more information about Naomi House is at naomihouse.org.uk.
