BASINGSTOKE youths can get musical in the forth-coming BATS Next Gen production of Hairspray.
The local children’s musical theatre company is looking for young people to audition for the parts and perform in their version of the popular West End musical, in October.
Hairspray is set in 1962. Baltimore’s Tracy Turnblad is a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, who has only one passion – to dance. She wins a spot as dancer on local TV programme, The Corny Collins Show and is transformed overnight from outsider to irrepressible teen celebrity.
BATS Next Gen is looking for children aged between seven and 17 years old, who can sing and act or dance.
The company is running pre-audition workshops on April 2, 16 and 23 at Aldworth Science College, in Western Way, Basingstoke, from 7pm to 9pm. The actual auditions will be held at the Basingstoke Academy of Dancing, in Joule Road, Basingstoke, on April 26, from 10.30am to 4pm.
