A BASINGSTOKE audience will be chortling at a new production The Humour of Gilbert & Sullivan, presented by Gordon Peters, which is raising money for a local cause.

The Lions Club of Basingstoke has organised the show with talented comic Peters, who has featured in a number of BBC situation comedies, including Dad’s Army, My Family, One Foot in the Grave, To The Manor Born and Little Britain.

Peters will be accompanied by David Carter (pictured right with Gordon Peters) for this performance, at the main hall at Queen Mary’s College, on April 4.

All proceeds from the show will go to Naomi House Children’s Hospice, which provides support and respite for children with life-limiting ill-nesses and their families, and the total raised will supplement £1,000 recently donated to the children’s charity by The Basingstoke Lions.

Tickets for the show cost £10 and are available from Maurice Hockley, on 01256 421867, by email at mauricehockley@ hotmail.com, or from Toucan Travel, at Chineham Shopping Centre.

The club is organising two further events in 2009 – The Yetties, at Costello Technology College, on June 6, and a concert with The Army Medical Services Band, on November 21, at Queen Mary’s College.

Season tickets for all three events cost £25.
