THE Anvil is delighted to welcome back the amazing Maxim Vengerov when he performs

with the Würth Philharmonic Orchestra on Tuesday 5 June.

Stamatia Karampini conducts the first half, the irresistible overture to Die Fledermaus, and

then as Vengerov performs Bruch’s popular Violin Concerto no 1, which is perfectly judged

and brilliantly written for the instrument.

After the interval, Maxim Vengerov conducts Shostakovich’s finest symphony, The Tenth –

an epic journey, powerful and dramatic, yet with moments of touching simplicity.

Following the success of his Cradle to the Grave tour, Danny Baker returns to Basingstoke

and appears at The Anvil on Friday 8 June with his new show Good Time Charlie’s Back!

Writer, journalist and presenter since the late seventies, Danny has had a full and varied

career, and currently hosts the Saturday morning show on BBC Radio 5 live.

Danny headed out on the road last year and says “Following the extraordinary success of my

first tour I was asked to reconsider my initial statement that I would never undertake such a

venture again. The applause of the public can be a seductive narcotic and weaker souls than I

would be tempted to repeat the thrills harvested during that ‘uproarious whirligig of joy’

simply to bolster their already outsize egos.

“My latest show will be high kicking, fresh, eruptive - and often under three hours long. I will

be joined on some nights by both Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan – two of the nicest dogs I

have ever owned. So raise the curtain, pour the drinks, play the music because here we go

again”.

Enjoy an evening of electrifying music from the fifties when Rock & Roll Revolution,

featuring The Bluejays, comes to The Haymarket on Wednesday 13 June.

Winners of the National Vintage Award for Best Band, The Bluejays formed in 2013 after

years of performing together in West End shows such as Million Dollar Quartet and

Dreamboats & Petticoats.

Rock & Roll Revolution is a tribute to the era when music changed the world forever.

Between 1955 and 1959, artists such as Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, The Everly

Brothers, Eddie Cochran and Little Richard not only transformed the musical landscape but

also the way we continue to look at the world today.

The Bluejays take you on a historical journey via breathtaking renditions of the biggest hits

of the era including Rock Around The Clock, That's All Right, That'll Be The Day, Johnny B.

Goode, and Wake Up Little Susie.

The show will also reveal how the Rock 'n' Roll movement, rather than being 'a

communicable disease', united a generation and brought about a dream of equality and

freedom that we still chase to this day.
