GENERAL Sir Richard Sherriff KCB CBE brings a professional soldier’s perspective to the momentous events of the Waterloo campaign when he is a guest speaker at a fundraising An Audience With…at The Watermill Theatre.
In the bicentennial year of the Battle of Waterloo, the general, who is a consultant and advisor in strategic risk, will draw on original accounts from the soldiers who fought there to bring the historic battle to life.
1815 saw a showdown between two of history’s military giants, Wellington with his British and Allied army, and Napoleon with his French Imperial Guard. The decisive battle in a muddy field in Belgium ended 20 years of bloody conflict and set the conditions for the European order for much of the 19th Century.
General Sir Richard has had a distinguished military career and his command appointments have included 7th Armoured Brigade, 3rd (UK) Division, the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps and NATO’s Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe.
He withdrew from active service as a soldier in 2014.
Hear him speak at the Bagnor theatre on Tuesday, October 6 at 2pm.
Audience members attending this special fundraising event will have the opportunity to meet General Sir Richard after the event over tea and cake which is included in the ticket price of £25.
The theatre’s restaurant will be serving lunch beforehand.
Reservations can be made at the time of booking tickets either online at watermill.org.uk or by calling the box office on 01635 46044.
